The Caladrius is an active work-in-progress short film, entirely hand-animated in Clip Studio Paint, periodically updated here as it approaches completion.

A caladrius is an ostensibly fictional bird sought after by kings in Roman and medieval European mythology. It was said that by looking into its eyes, a caladrius could draw your sickness unto itself before flying away to disperse it into the sky, saving your life; or, by turning its back, condemn you to death. I’m interested in how this symbol connects to the idea of hurt as a sickness passed onto others through harmful acts, and the ways it may be dispersed, internalized, or rejected, each a metamorphosis for better or for worse.
